I used to have a '73 cadillac hearse. I sold it to a guy who decided he HAD to have it lowered. So, he put a brick on the ground under the frame on each side, and used my torch to heat the springs until it was touching the bricks. What neither one of use anticipated was that the driveshaft was gonna end up scraping the floor from underneath. After we chopped the top off the car and made a pickup truck out of it, I then had to take the torch and cut a long rectangular strip out of the now-pickup-bed to let the driveshaft come on up through the floor. I used to ride around town with some other folks in the back of that thing, watching the driveshaft turn. It was a good incentive to not drop anything while the car was in motion!
