while we were away down at our in-laws over the weekend a sniper ambush incident happened near our home town Sat. night in Moscow, ID. This community is roughly around 20 thousand in population and is a college town (university of Idaho). My family and I go into Moscow frequently for shopping and getting together with friends. Never in my mind I would have expected such news. Here are a couple links to tell the story. I have to go into Moscow today to run some important errands and I'm nervous as hell. Our little community isn't as safe as we all thought.

I didn't even hear about this and that's worse, that things like this happen enough to _not_ be news. Don't wear orange.

Show me one that truly is! These days anything can happen anywhere. Sad times we live in. For all I know my neighbor cold be an assassin. He's kinda weird and a bit twitchy. [smilie=f:

That's sad. I've been to Moscow many times, and it's a very pleasant community. This kind of stuff really tarnishes that. Take care when in town. We don't want to read about you (or anyone else, for that matter).

Yes, it is depressing. Does take the trust out of everything.
I can't imagine what it would be like living in a much bigger city where crime happens everywhere, the stress of it all.

I lived just outside of Portland, Oregon for about 12 years and it honestly got to the point where nothing suprised me anymore. Plenty still made me nervous though!! NE Portland at night is NOT a place a white boy wants to be after dark!!! Then I lived outside of Detroit for only 6 mos but the night I landed in Michigan to stay, a police officer was killed with his own gun in the Target parking lot just across the street from where our apartment was. Happened just as we pulled into our driveway. We heard a loud bang and couldn't figure out what it was till the next day on the news. How's that for a "Welcome to Michigan" for ya?! [smilie=f:

Wow--that would make me want to turn around and leave!
Earlier this year my hubby and I went to Seattle for a few days, we were more stressed out than having fun. Crazy people walking the streets not paying attention to traffic (we nearly hit 2 people) and heard sirens going off all the time. Definately wouldn't want to live there, particularly in the city.

your right that is scary stuff,we were in spokane the night that happened and were goin to drive home the next day to BC and we went through post falls that looks like avery nice place to hang your hat but then again no one ever knows..
