Hi
My Daughter has 2 65 dart 270s a 2 door and a 4 door. Both post cars, & both /6 the 4 door has 103,000 miles and has nice seats and carpet no rust but was wrecked, The motor has about 10K miles on a rebuild I saw the bill but the motor is bad, they had intake and exhaust manafold leaks. Also it runs hot and has blowby. The 904 was tight idling and car would move, try to flash converter and it locked up at under 1000 rpm. This is a 65 motor but not the one the car started with. The 4 door also has AC and tunes.

The 2 door post when I saw it for sell I was going to pull motor and drop in a nice 318 or 360. After I bought it for 1,000 I got prove that it had only 50K miles. We have put 10 K on. So it has 60 K runs great but the exhaust valves need hardend seats has a little miss from a burnt valve.

The 2 door has new paint but needs floor replaced & the front seat is shot. Alll the trim was removed and he lost all the clips. There was some rust and it is showing up a little under new paint.

Current plan on 4 door rebuild trans and /6. Have a later head with the better combustion chambers.

Current plan on 2 door as soon as 4 door is up stop driving the 2 door. Replace the head with a 71 or so that looks same and has later combustion design. Then repaint and install trim

Today My daughter and I were hanging out bench racing and came up with a possable plan.

1) Get 71 /6 head and install hard seats. pull motor and trans from 2 door and using all the best parts have a visually correct 65 dart. ( thee is no numbers to match) Install all the best /6 stuff in 4 door. Then stick a 318 in 2 door.

2) I have a quote of 1K do all the body work, on the 4 door.

I know the 4 door will never be worth much but if she has a car to drive for 8 years of collage.

Plan was to get the 4 door runing and take 2 door and replace the head and carb with manafolds ...... Fix it up for shows.

If we pull the /6 out of 2 door and install small block it would need bigger rearend. on the 2 door both front and rear supendtions were rebuilt, but they installed a new 7 1/4 so that will have to go. ( into the 4 door ) Or I could just put 318 in 4 door. leave the 2 door stock.

Both headliners are down.

Just saw the pics of the 2 door. Nice looking ride......needs a V8. I love those old darts.

same thing i thought when I saw it but the /6 runs so well Lindsey has been driving for over a year with out a problem so maybe it is time to give her more power. What was I thinking teaching her to drive in the Challenger. She wants to turbo the 4 door. Make one heck of a sleeper.

why would a 273 be any easyer than a 318/360?...considering its all the same parts

small block 65 dart...love those bodys..fav year of darts

273 easer because I found 1 LOL

Found what I think was 273 comando ( sp) I can get it for what I earn in 6 hrs of OT ( worked 20 Hrs ot this week)

But I am leaning toward 318/360 with magnum heads. but have not found any good rebuildable magnums, so maybe a set of Edelbrocks would be the ticket.
