I picked her up today and drove her home.

My brother and I rode up and I drove the New Porker while my brother drove the Exploder back.

Awesome ride back! Sorry we couldn't stay longer, but I never plan and thrash at the last minute... and something always comes up to delay things just to the ragged edge.

Well, It worked out great this time, thanks entirely to restoman and the gang at MY Classic Auto Body and my brother for the assist with the ride up and back.

Other than that eerie, disconnected feeling from the steering and a slight vibration at a very specific speed (around 63 MPH)...
and a son-of-a-bitch to park in the Wendy's in London, the ride home was uneventful.

Ran 65 to 70 most of the way except through the slower spots where construction crunched things down to one lane and a couple of areas where the limit drops down through cities.

Almost caused a few accidents - mostly that would have involved me - because of the dumb shits that drive where they're looking and they were looking right at the New Porker. Two guys nearly drove right into the side of me, but their wives screamed just in time.

Got home at about 7-ish, I think.
Took my daughter for a bit of a cruise and she loves it. Listened to the crappiest music ever to be put on 8-track, but it was still cool. I had to explain what an 8-track is and I had to ask her if she remembered cassette tape - she did, barely.

Filled up the tank again - $60... So it was about half a tank from Sarnia to St. Catharines. Seems pretty good. I'll check the trip odo tomorrow. I reset it not too far from the shop so it'll be close to the real distance.
I think the Exploder used about the same...

Grabbed pizza and wings and brought them home. Then, after dinner, took the wife for a quick boot around the block. Not hating it... but it was dark. :p

I got the stuff out of the trunk and that's it.
Nothing got cleaned. :shifty:

I'll bring my detail spray, cleaning kit and stuff and spit and polish it tomorrow at MOPARfest.

Oh, and I took zero pictures. [smilie=f:

My brother took some though, I'll post 'em when I get 'em.

Orvil, sorry I didn't make it out to see you, but I heard that you got to check out the boat yesterday. I hope that's good for now. We'll meet up soon. As per my usual, time was cut close...

Happy seas!

Coolness.

C-bodys float nice eh? Have the u-joints been replaced? Could be that or a worn trans mount causing that vibration. :hmmm:

Cool! Glad you made it safely home. I know alllllll about the dumb shits who gotta look at you whilst missing your fender by inches.:doubt:

I like Beeps response, I had a 74 2 dr New Porker and it never gave a lick of trouble till the rear u-joint imploded and I had the same vibration issues but my gut says Restoman's crew would have checked those already.

Yep. I'd say it's more just me being used to the modern cars.
It's a very a very slight vibration. I really only noticed because I got in behind a car and sat at the speed for a while.
I didn't really feel it in the steering wheel, but my belly was shaking. Heck, It could have been the road. I really only tested it once more and it was hard to find that spot.

As for the weird feeling in the steering, I don't feel it at all around town.
I'll play with it again tomorrow on the way to the show.

got-dang big ol' thing won't even fit in the viewfinder :D
A front end shot (all in the frame) fisheyed would make a stupendous banner pic.

Beautious work Resto, looking at the sign do ya'll just sit around and jam to Skynyrds' workin' for the MCA?

Yeah the wagon has that same weird disconnected steering sensation as well...I'm wonderign if it's just the C-bodies and their over assisted steering?

I'm contemplating manual steering for better feel and control.....

Other than that eerie, disconnected feeling from the steering........

I freakin HATE that, I found out on my New Yorker the splines on my steering box were worn and the nut couldn't bottom out the arm on the tapered shaft so a couple washers and a wheel alignment were needed to remedy that problem.

My son loved the car too. He didn't reaiize that not so long ago, everyone drove cars that big.

The Wendy's parking lot is a bitch.

what got me about the car was the cig lighter for the back was on the wall right behind the passengers elbow. one slip and the pass. would be on he dash.:bwuhaha:the paint and body were good. and when Resto put it in rev yup that crco clunk. to me that always said everythings good. why? my dad has driven chrco,s for years and i remember changing those rears in high school or putting a set of springs to raise that #$%^&***&(^ BOAT and working on the ground. yup when they ran smooth you never knew you were in a car going down the raod cause it was that smooth. and no the roads werent newly paved:bwuhaha:. the car was just like dads. and REST.O LOOKED GOOD IN IT. I HEARD HIM LEAVE THE CORMER. OR MAYBE THAT WAS STOPPING:bwuhaha:nothin but New Yorkers in our drive. or Saratogas. and every one turned heads . when your done with ours your going to like that better than a caddy cause he trunks are bigger. she sounded just right lokked great and was a head turner and made my wife smile when i showed her the back seat and told her it was 19 1/2 feet long.. the cars you dorks.:bwuhaha::bwuhaha::bwuhaha::bwuhaha:really nice looking car Davey.

Steering problem is the steering coupler. Hate to say it, but I bet a beer the shoes in the coupler are worn. The good news is the kit to fix it is cheap. Go to your Mopar dealer and ask for the steering coupler rebuild kit for a 90-93 Ram truck. The individual parts go to the kit #. The kit has a seal, retainer, 2 shoes, center pin, roll pin, spring and a little bity pin you wont need. You will be amazed at the difference. If you have the clearance, drill a hole for a zerk fitting in the coupler body so that you can lube it and not have this problem again.
