Is this a good idea?
Plunk down 35K, finish the car to class spec and your liking, and go racing. Ford is offering a race-ready package for 70K. According to Ford, you could be sitting in the staging lanes before the ink is dry on the bill of sale.
Is the timing right on this?
Do you think these programs will spark a sportsman revival for NHRA and smaller sanctioning bodies?
I personally don't see how this is going to help the entry level, low budget racer. Maybe it's not intended to do so. All I see happening is a good portion of the cars getting locked away in climate controlled storage facilities by collectors with deep pockets and a dream of breaking the Barrett-Jackson auction record 10-20 years from now when they bring the car out of hibernation. Only a fraction of these cars will ever see track duty.
