The gist of the story is that it was built at the Lynch Road plant 2 weeks later than what was previously considered the build date of the last production street HEMI of the original muscle car era. They have the original fender tag and build sheet as proof.

Crazy that it has remained unknown until now.

"Absolutely no aftermarket pieces will be used."

And yet, the parts list is filled with them... :hmmm:

It's a cool find, no doubt, should it be real. I couldn't find a picture of the broadcast sheet or the fender tag on the site, though, and both have been faked in the past. I'll be interested to see them. The sequence number should tell the story.

If you look at the pics carefully, you can see that the "NOS" metal they are using has been carefully stripped of the black primer AMD uses on their products...no reproduction "labels and primer" maybe.

I wonder where they managed to find OEM body filler? :hmmm:

That will be a beautiful car when it's finished, but to me, that particular car woud really benefit from one of those paint daub/overspray restos. That is, if it is what they say it is.

By the "before" look of it, I'd swear it spent its life on the East Coast. I remember many similar condition cars in the late 70s, early 80s. Hell, most of what I bought looked like that.

That stripe of rust down the driver's side fender just in front of the door is exactly what my 73 Charger had.
Even the repair rusted out in the same area.

Why would they lie about the parts list? That's absolutely stupid! Beautiful car, as long as the work is done right, and NOS or original parts are used wherever possible and QUALITY reproductions to fill in the rest, no one, except the "check writer, resto crew" would give them any guff about it. No one really cares what they think anyway, besides, I doubt most have ever even touched a wrench, or could identify one in a line up...

ive certainly never seen one that bad on the westcoast.....with the exception of BC and beach cars
I've seen worse at the Puyallup, WA, show. It's not exactly a "beach town", but there were some pretty-rusty wrecks there. In fact, one of my Year One show-crew teammates had a walk around, and said "The Black Bitch really isn't that bad, is she?" :D
