Wow, my damper must have slipped quite a bit![smilie=2: I did it the old farts way and used a vacuum gauge and advanced the timing until it didn't rise anymore then backed off 1". According to the marks it's set about 30 degrees advanced!
It's running like a 383 should!:dance: I do have a slight ping under full throttle so I may back it off a hair. I still want to change the metering springs in the Edelbrock carb, they are 4" vacuum from the factory, only for this carb., the rest are 5". This engine definately sounds like it has the 2bbl cam in it too so I want to step it up a couple inches so it get's a richer acceleration, might help the pinging too.:xl:
Now I'm wondering if I should put a new damper on it?:hmmm: Anybody using those powerforce ones? It's not a race engine so I don't need an sfi approved one.:toot:
