supercharger or turbo?

I like superchargers, but I only drive on the street, I have no knowledge when it comes to track applications. Then again, even though it suffers from lag, I really get a kick out of Grand Nationals, and the Subaru WRX(I am pretty sure it was turbo??).

Supercharger.

I would prefer the linear type of power delivery they give over the lag and then kick of the turbo. It just seems to me that a supercharger would be a bit more predictible on the street. For the track it might be a different story as far as the drivability setup goes but I belive I would still prefer the supercharger over the turbo.

These are just my opinions to be taken with a grain of salt. I have never owned either one of them. I have however done a lot of research into both types of power adders when I was looking into how I want to build the RB stroker engine for my Challenger. For me the question now is what TYPE of supercharger I want to put on the R/T/A project engine. Roots, Whipple, Centrifigual [smilie=e: [smilie=e: [smilie=e:

I would have to say the same for the same reasons. I bet the supercharger is more popular at the strip. I've seen a few turbos there but almost all funny cars and dragsters have a big huffer on top of the engine.

I've driven vehicles with both... the G.M. 3800 supercharged was cool, but I like the feel of the chrysler turbo. There's just something aboot hearing that whistle [smilie=e: that gets my pants moist... [smilie=e:

.

i would pick supercharger roots style
the cool factor [smilie=e:

and would the supercharger have a cooler intake charge compared to the turbo?

ATI Procharger. More versatile than a Roots style, robs much less power than a Roots, no turbo lag, same whistle, you can intercool it, and you get the bonus of keeping it out of sight for those money races on the boulevards (not that I would ever street race).

Reminds me of the first Mad Max movie! Nothing cooler than a blower sticking out the hood and the switch to flip it on was cool too! [smilie=a:
A nice hidden Procharger would be a blast too. [smilie=e:

I recently did some work on a Denali that was Whipple equipped. Kinda cheap looking with the plastic case and all but it sure wakes the dead ol small block up. They run their own oil resivoir with synthetic motor oil and I have no idea how much boost they actually produce but it seems to work well. Mileage would be better with a turbo I would think.

Anything that is mechanically driven uses engine power, hence it will be less economical. A turbo is non-power robbing being exhaust driven. Until you spool 'em up. [smilie=e:

How about a 383 stroker with a intercooled procharger. This is a buddies car. The engine is i a 69 road runner.

They can make loads of power but you better not let them run lean. [smilie=2:
