anyone know of ANYTHING i can coat styrofoam with to harden and protect its shape?.....paint eats it..i thought maybe some F-glass resin but that eats it as well....im open for ideas!....ohh god not elmers wood glue:naughty:

i need something that will protect its shape and NOT fall apart when it gets wet

Another method, and much cheaper, is to mix plaster of Paris with latex house paint.
(A good chance to get rid of all those leftovers.)

I don't know how strong it would be, but it's easily sanded and can be painted.

Maybe the answer is to switch to the different foam - urethane foam...
Unless you've already got the styro shaped... then try the epoxy resin.

From the FAQ section of that site:
"Polyester fiberglassing resin will dissolve polystyrene foam (Styrofoam) on contact. If you must use polystyrene foam, you'll have to switch to epoxy resin to avoid dissolving the foam when the resin is applied. But epoxy is about three times as expensive as polyester, and polystyrene foam is much more difficult to work with than urethane. If you switch to Styrofoam and epoxy, you'll hate the system. If you stay with urethane foam and polyester resin, you'll love it. "

intresting thought boot

changing media is not a posibility..ive sculpted alot with it already...epoxy it is i guess
