Stupid job titles

I work at Home Depot, and they call the cart boys/pushers "Lot Techs" :wtf: wtf , that is a ridiculus title for a menial job...in my opinion. When my brother pumped gas (in NJ, for those who don't know you don't pump your own gas) they heard of/made up a title, "PDE" petroleum dispensing engineer :bwuhaha: . So if cart boys are "lot techs" would that make mechanics "Automotive Engineers"

They're really called service technicians. Mechanic is considered too primitive for the amount of electronics etc you need to know to do the job right.

The point I was trying to make was the celebration of mediocrity has given the most unskilled jobs an important sounding title so no one will feel bad about what they do. As far as service technicians, auto technicians or what you might call them, I know how difficult those jobs/careers can be, I was one as is my youngest brother. I am going to school to do something not so abusive on my body. I already (at 32) deal with pain in my hands, wrists, elbows, and knees.

When I pumped gas and fixed tires they called it pumping gas and fixin' tires. I believe the legal definition according to w-2 forms was "labor".

No I didn't make "a wage befitting age and experience based on economic indicators of employeds region".
I made 2 fitty an hour but that's ok old mil was 6.49 a case and gas was...errrr...cheap.

Anyone else see a pattern here? :hmmm:

It's all to make low jobs sound important and motivate , to make all feel special and needed. cause mommy probably didnt hug the generation x as much as she should have , since most this stupidity happened at that x-birth.
and the educated idiots from collage feel that the time wasnt wasted in collage, ,,,.."yeah mom a graduated and got a great job. ...No i havent started yet ,but I'm a (enter choice here)...

There's tons of them out there.

Farmer - Agricultural Engineer
Soldier - Combat Engineer
Teacher - Educational Engineer

It's kinda like that saying, if you can't dazzle them with brilliance baffle them with bullshit. The small Joe shmucks doing the crappy jobs feel they deserve more for their minimal effort, thus give them a nice title and try to impress somebody.

Hey.. I resemble that remark!

It's " Petroleum Transfer Technician" around here!LOL Did that for 6 years.Looking back 10 years later, it was the best job I ever had.

OK so in my self-employed Biz, would mine be called "Salvage Technician"? Nope I wont call myself that, I'm a freakin metal scrapper! Keep it simple stupid.

my job title is CARPENTER and CARPENTER only . i cant stand when some dipshit askes me a question and referrs to me as " hey drywallman " i ignore them till they say it again , most of the time its a friggn electrian then i say " what do you want wire nut installer ? hey ass ,, just becasuse im hanging board ,,,, im not a drywallman im a carpenter !!! now what the hell is so important ? " :D

Well let's see now... I cook for a living... I'm a "cook". The dishwasher is a "disher", the busboy is, well, a "busboy", and the servers are, well "servers".

I guess the restaurant industry likes calliing them as they see them.

Oh, and the boss lady is a BITCH!!!!

But I think that's universal.

:)

I'm just a lowly Hobart Service Tech....

I was a stripper once. :D I worked for a print shop for a couple years. I produced negatives, burned the images onto metal plates and placed them onto big web-press machines.

Did you call your mom and tell her the wonderful news?

Yeah......my momma was proud! She has always wanted me to set a good example for the family!:bwuhaha:

The stripping was part of the press work 68R/T. *wink* I studied Graphic Design and Printing Technology for a couple of years and while doing so I had found work in the printing environment. After the print job was finished I stripped the nagitives off of the masking paper. That was the least fun part of the job.
