I think he means they were made by Stainless Steel Brake Company, not that the rotors are actually stainless. I've not actually seen a set of stainless rotors; many companies plate their aftermarket rotors to prevent corrosion on the non-friction areas, but the rotors are steel or iron and the plating isn't stainless.
I may be wrong, but shouldn't 509RWHP be producing much-better track numbers, particularly in a light car whose setup screams "drag strip" and isn't particularly road-safe? 509 at the crank seems more likely, but even then I'd expect a little quicker times. It's fast, no doubt, but the times tell the tale without what seem like inflated HP/torque numbers.
I like it, but I agree that the scoop and wing, along with that ghastly steering wheel, seem out of place on what otherwise looks to be a very-cool period piece.
