STAINLESS ENGINE BOLTS ? any good ?

i know ARP is the good stuff but these ARE CHEAPER .

There may be a reason for that. They could be made from cheap materials. I would think you would be able to go to a local hardware store and get the right bolts you need for less. That way you'll only be buying what you need as well.

There's different qualities of stainless...those bolts are raw unfinished stainless...stainless bolts let the fluids seep up the threads and out...oil on the intake and antifreeze down the front of the engine....you have to use silicone on the treads to keep the seepage to a minimum...

ok thanks ROB .:bravo:

scratches stainless bolts of of list

No .. No .. nothing wrong with stainless...just use silicone or when you start it just have water in the cooling system for the first month so the threads rust ...I use stainless bolts ...

again nothing wrong with stainless but there generaly weaker than normal engine bolts...i prefer stainless on carb and valve covers...not sure id trust myself not to snap em off for intake bolts

what kind of sillycone ? and do you think this bolt kit is fine to use ?

I often use stainless for exhaust bolts. It prevents a lot of dumb shit when you're trying to take them off later, as they haven't rusted to the point that they'll break.
