If I seem a bit distant lately. Lots going on here, my mom is moving into a little house in town and I need to clear up 35 years worth of antiques outta her BIG house. Not going to be easy, my mom is the ultimate pack rat. It will take me all summer, no doubts. Lots more going on here, people sick, people dieing, you know. :)
I wish you all well, and hope I will be back more frequently soon, although I suspect I may go un-noticed. I will wear something lacey, k Beep? :shifty:

Be good!:bravo:

Completely understood... my Mom was the same way when she sold the house in which I grew up after Dad died. It's sad and yet exciting to go through all those years of memories, XL. As it turned out, Mom had saved posters from my Dad's re-election campaign of 1968 (he won), and my siblings and I each have one example of what's essentailly an NOS poster of him from that era. It's hidden in my house in Kingsford, away from sunlight and UV rays that might wreck it... it's not like there are others out there. Dad was a goofy-lookin' dude back then. :D

This move will bring up a lot of memories for you, and probably some tears... may the tears be those of joy.

S'ok. Moving anyone, let alone a parent, is a big frickin' undertaking.
Just as long as you drop some of those antiques at my house, it'll be ok. :)

Went through that last year with my grandparents property, it is hard to do but sure brings back a ton of memories. You have much to do, go now and get busy.

I will have some new lacey items to share once you return. :)

what ever you do..double check everything...dont want to trash or give away memorys that cant be had again...take you time and enjoy the memorys

No worries. We'll be here for ya.

It's gotta be tough to "minimize" belongings collected over a lifetime.
Some stuff will look like useless clutter, but there's always a reason why it was saved.
A storage locker can be a good thing at this time. Move it out and sort it later - a couple of boxes at a time.
My brother did that with his stuff. He went from 2 large storage rooms to none in about 6 months. He'd just pick up a few boxes every chance he got, sort through them and bring back only what he needed to keep. Which more often than not, was nothing.

*Looks around* I pity the poor bastard that has to clean up after me.

been there- done that at the parent-in-laws farm a coulpe of years ago- took us 3 months to sort out stuff for a auction.

I got first dibs on everthing Mopar!!!!!!!!!:gaga::giggedy::giggedy::giggedy:

we burned for weeks stuff that was SAVED!!!!!! lol
take care!

I brought home one load of big block engines and blocks in the truck from the old house today. I weighed the truck at work, and it weighed 9160 lbs. It weighs 7000 empty. That's one of 3 or 4 truckloads of big blocks. That's not counting rearends, transmissions, the 5.9 cummins that weighs 1000 lbs by itself, or the various heads and crankshafts not attached to an engine. Nor is it counting untold tools, body parts, wire harnesses, and whatever else I've managed to accumulate.

The people cleaning up after I croak had better hire a bunch of strong guys to help move stuff.

They can borrow my engine crane. Christ knows, I haven't seen the damned thing in a couple of years. They can just call Stretch and ask him for it. :D

but there are things worth $ problem is no where to store them in the time line we will be working with by the time she sells her house and moves to FLA. with my brother
