My buddy works for Dodge and says there are rumors abound of them making the Hemi a 6.5 now to go with the SRT package for the new Challenger. There is a catch, you have to own an SRT model car prior to being able to own one of these cars (the Challenger SRT that is). Any of you guys heard stuff like this also?

That don't suprise me as far as needing to own an SRT inorder to get the SRT Chally...they did the same thing with the Vipers. You had to already own a Viper before you could buy the newer styled 'Vette looking ones.

I've seen pics of one that approaches 440 inches, supposed to be in the pipe for '09.[smilie=2: I didn't see the gotta own one to get one tag though.

Yawn! BFD - in a few years they'll be begging to you buy them. These crass clowns who think they can manufacture exclusitivity out of thin are and mediocre cars - wanna buy some prime Everglade land?

There are reasons why a 1971 hemi Challenger is worth some money - they don't make them anymore. Both Ford and GM learned that a current car cannot attain collector status while in production.

I say perfect. Keep it up.. sell three of them a year! They will be the Superbirds of the 21st century, like GTOs that sat in Pontiac showrooms the past couple of years...

The only difference is that 60's muscle cars got a LOT of their mystique because as the 70's rolled on and into the 80's cars became LESS and LESS POWERFUL. News flash! 500 NET HP is this year's number, and you know that it's just going to keep getting crazier and crazier, so I don't see the same thing happening with this crop. (did I say crap?) of pony cars.

And the other thing is the us who knew hese cars as kids are now in a position to aquire or reaquire the past. Everyone loves to drift back to their youth and having the car you had as a kid, or the one you couldn't afford, but now can is a cheap way to buy back your youth. And as the 60s kids pass (Dandy Dick is now gone) the cars will be sold off from estates.
The part I cannot see is that as the cars from the 40s and then the 50s and now the 60s are hot for the buy-it-now crowd, I can't see in 40 years or so 1990 or 2000 Honda Civics being hot items.

I could still have a good time beating the snot out of a new, way overpowered, 3 pedal chally. I could make a stab at trashing a new z06 too. For me it's not so much recapturing my youth as having something that drags it's knuckles through an intersection.
