Blame mopars for not breaking on me joining this forum. After looking at a fellow co-workers forum on pontiac gtp's(don't ask) I decided to find a forum for real cars and found this one to be the most fun. This has got to beat staring at the walls all day long! [smilie=e:
As of now my fleet contains a 96 Grand Cherokee(daily driver),02 Sebring(wife's car),92 Daytona IROC(summer car) and an 80 Aspen(project car.S6 to 440 conversion).
Hope to get some pictures up sometime in the near future.

Welcome fellow Wisconsinite!!!!! [smilie=e: [smilie=a:
Us mid-west folks gotta stick together to hold them Canookians at bay! [smilie=w: :D

Welcome! Talk to 68 rt, he just finished shoehorning a 440 into a Volare Wagoooon. :)
We are fun, weird, but fun! :)

Slick, you need to come hang out at the first-annual White Trash Nationals at beeper*71's place later in the month.

Far as I know, Stretch, 68R/T, barney, slammed66chrysler, 74oven360mitt and myself will be hangin'... you should come and join in the fun! Maybe Z and Lumpy will even show...

hey 68rt, what rear end do you have in your volare?
wondering if there's a 8 3/4 housing that is the correct
width to swap in to my aspen.
What's your quarter mile times like?

A 1965-70 B-body housing is a bolt-in. All you need to change are your leaf-spring center pins (to get rid of the iso-clamp setup's massive-diameter pilot). You should also use the lower shock plates from the same car, and shocks for the B-body application. Depending on how you do it, you either need to move the brake line on the body, or get a brake hose about 3" longer than factory. Your brakes and driveshaft will work fine... no need to even upset your parking-brake cables.

We did this swap on an '82 Mirada last year. It all went together like it was born there.

Doc covered most of it, the 8 3/4 is only about 1/2" longer than the 8 1/4, so the driveshaft will work as long as you stay with the original trans.

The backing plates interchange between the two rears, I was even able to re-use the rubber brake hose.

Also, as long as I had everything apart, I added a half leaf to the right spring.
