Sheet metal brake

hung like a stud field mouse and
So i started out by taking some 5/8 bar stock to school and machining out a 45 degree angle on one side. Slapped up on the mill and away i went.
The base is made of channel iron and the front is 5/8 material as well. (pics show better) The channell iron will need a notch cut out so the hinge can be kept tight up against the channel iron and the bendin arm can be tight with little gap as possible.

Later i cut out a 2 inch bar and drilled a 1 1/2 hole through it on the lathe. The inner piece i turned down and put a shoulder on it so it would not slde all the way through.

Now comes the tricky part. The cam lock. I offset the hole from center by 3/8 and put a 5/8 hole through it so i could slide a bolt through and thread it down to the side parallels.

The back side has slotted holes so i can move the top plate forward or up as needed. I also reinforced the top plate with some angle iron so that it will not warp when under heavy loads. (want to bend some 3/16th steel ,well dad does for indestructible mailboxes)

Dont think i missed anything. :shifty: have a look at the pics.
