A monthe ago a buddy of mine needed some eng work on his 4OO. another friend of mine had a 440 from a 78 RV sitting , wanting to get rid off( needed $$$). I offered It to my friend w/ the 400 , Helping two friends at the same time. . First he said yes!! Then after I picked it up ( and paid for it, for him) he said that he had changed his mind and decide to keep his 400 and have rebuilt . So I was stuck with the 440. But it cost me only $250 for the complete eng AND 727.
Since then I sold enough parts to make my $$ back and after removing then heads,,, Barely a ridge at the top of the cyl.!! none ..just carbon color. Can still see the cross hatching in the bore. No water !! AND THE BORE IS 4.320.!.:giggedy: never been bored. :giggedy:
The pistons are flat-tops , .150 in the hole bringing the comp to appox 8:1.
YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS..!!!!!
His loss , my gain.
Perfect start for a 671 .. *wife rolls her eyes again*
if not a blown eng. still good to have for a back-up.
