helping those that need it

Well done dep. Our family is doing our bit to help in another way. We are a foster family for Future Dog Guides. This is a program sponsored by all the Lions Clubs in Canada that raise and train Guide Dogs for the blind or Special Skills Dogs for the physically challenged. These puppies need homes with people to raise them with good house manners and potty training and also take them out into the community to socialize them. These pups are taken to the stores and malls and resterants to adapt them to the different envirenments that they be a part of in the future. When 10 to 14 months old they are recalled for their actual training that lasts for roughly 6 mo and then matched with a client and undergo another mo together at the training center before going to their new homes. These dogs are given to the clients at no charge. The client just looks after the upkeep once they have them. Total cost per dog is about $20 k. All this is done thru donations, fundraising and sponsorships. Ralston Purina currently picks up the tab for the food for all the puppies and various other companies help support in other areas. We are currently on pup # 3. #1 did not qualify but # 2 is in the see eye program since November and should be graduating soon. We are so looking forward to that accomplishment. If anyone wants further info pm me or take a look at dogguides.com

10-4--- GREAT JOB- A FRIEND OF MINE'S HUSBAND was a trucker who developed RP to a point that all he sees is the size of a pencel tip- and he got a seeing eye dog- which he uses every day- walking or just around the house.
