A catholic priest was walking along a remote irish road when he spied a young man on a river bridge tying a length of rope to his ankle. Attached to the other end of the rope was a large stone. The young man picked up the stone and started to climb up on the bridge wall; obviously the young man was attempting to commit suicide. The priest rushed over to the young man and pulled him off the bridge wall. The priest asked the young man "If you kill yourself, who will care for your mother & father?". The young man replied, "Father, I am an orphan." The priest then asked the young man " I can see from the wedding ring you are wearing, that you are married. Who will care for your wife and children?". The young man replied "We are childless and my wife hates me, we are to be divorced." The priest than tells the young man " Well then, for St. Patricks sake don't jump!". The young man asks the priest "Who is St. Patrick?". The priest stares in disbelief at the young man and then exclaims "Well go ahead and jump you protestant bastard, jump!"
