1. So, now that I have some time in Montreal, I thought I might go parts hunting. Anyknow know any good MOPAR graveyards within 5 hour drive to Mopntreal? Vermont, New Hampshire, Mass, NY, Quebec, or Ontario?

Speak up.

2. I blew a frost plug, and I hope I did not do anything worse. Too bad I can not lift my engine, as it was the rear plug (near the firewall). Why use brass or copper ones instead of regular metal (is it steal, or chrome)? Friking waste of money.

3. Aluminum heads. Where can I get the best price on these? Would the aluminum heads from a 440 still fit on a 400? Is the performance as shocking as they say it is at my local Mopac? For almost 2K just for the heads (1700), I really would like an opinion if this is truly something I should invest in to make my car go faster.

4. Howz everyone doing anyways? I took some pics of the carb and intake I put on. Looks sweet! I will post soon. I have to take new ones as the flash was not working properly.

PS: If you are in or near Montreal (under 5 hour drive, let me know). Would love to go work on a car somewhere on the weekend sometime. I am getting pretty bored here. My co-workers are boring and I know not another sole here.

montreal, huh? Is this a permanent thing?
I don't think aluminium heads are a great thing unless you really want to lose the weight....I believe most will tell you a GOOD iron head will flow better for a lot less $$.
time for a road trip down here to visit Orvil, resto and I. :)

All else being equal, an iron head makes more power... simple thermaldynamics, which I expect is a contradiction in terms, but the real reason racers went to aluminum was repairability. Sucks to lose 1000 hours of porting experimentation to an unrepairable crack.

No, the lighter weight of aluminum does not overcome the power deficit to iron, in case you were wondering.

Gotta say go aluminum on the heads. Iron may make more power but when you factor in the labor costs for those that don't have the experience to grind 'em themselves, machine shop time is $$$$ for the non connected. Add in the steetability with todays corn gas and they are a better bang for the buck.

The car is in Edmonton, and I am in Montreal, so I had no time to check. I thjought I may have had a cracked head from the way the coolant was coming out.

No black smoke, and no oil leaking out though, so I my thinking was that the plug went. The engine was badly overheating, had to park it and leave it with a guy as I was flying back to Montreal.:eek:

Seems like some varying opinions on the aluminum heads though. The only thinkg that makes me nervous about aluminum heads are that they would likely warp really fast if I over heat (from losing a frost plug or something).

take the train to wyoming ont. or you can go about 20 miles more on the track and get sarnia-- we can get you at either place --it,s about 30-40 bucks and will take 9-12 hours.. you,ll get looked after here and we,ll find eganville to. so let us know. i can get you at wyoming ont. easy - its 5 miles from my door an only 10 min. you call and we will send the posse. :)-- call me

Aluminum heads require/prefer a bump in compression, in other words Do Not put them on a stock low compression 400...;)

SWEET!! One hour means only a three hour drive. And with a name like 71 GTX, I already want to see your wheels.

My brother lives in Ottawa, so I can just crash there probably.

As for the hospitality bestowed on me for the folks in Sarnia, I will try my best to get there (Will likely drive though). In any case, you'll be sure to know if the time I can make it down would be a good time for you guys also. If so, count me in.

Well as they say in English Crap!! the Bonnechere caves are a whole 10 min from my house. Now I know why my Mopar senses were tingling and here I passed it off as a need for beer. Feel free if you're in the area, I have a little extra space, a big tent and a nice loft, plus I can talk Mopars for hours whether you manage to stay awake and listen or not.:shifty::p
 
Plus we can drink a lot of beer, as I would assume you have a monster fire pit out there. That's something I miss living in downtown Montreal.
