Pistol Grips?

Raodrunners Rock!
Hey, how much messing with the linkage do you have to do to turn your T-Shifter from your slapstick into a pistol grip? Does it just fit right over top, or are there many mods to make?

I love the pistol grip, but don't want to mess with it too much.

I'll wait for Dr.Jass to reply about those things. :D Personally, I'd sooner have nothing than have one of those. Just personal opinion though.

Pistol Grip 4-speeds absolutely rule.

Pistol Grip automatics are
  • A) A sad rip-off for the pansymatic crowd,
  • B) Really gay looking,
  • C) A dumb replacement for a truly-cool factory T-handle,
  • D) Uncomfortable as hell to drive since the angle of the grip is totally unnatural in any position behind neutral, and
  • E) Did I mention really gay looking?
Many years ago, long before those hideous abortions came to market, I toyed with the idea of an awfulmatic Pistol Grip for my '79 300--I even designed the damned thing. My design was articulated which would keep the grip more comfortable throughout its arc, and also unfortunately price it in the stratosphere.

Then I realized how ridiculously stupid an automatic with a Pistol Grip would look, and how every Mopar 4-speed owner would mutter under their breath, "Lookit this f__kin' wannabe" (and believe me, they all do). So I abandoned the idea as too gay and too "I wish I'd bought the car I really wanted in the first place" or too "I haven't the guts to do a 4-speed conversion." :D

You might not have been around long enough to see me use it in a post, so here's where I throw down my trademark line:

I wouldn't drive one of those to a goat-f__kin'.

You would have to be a major peter puffin' rump ranger to install one of those in an automatic car. :toot:

:bwuhaha: :bwuhaha: :bwuhaha:

I've even seen some with a rubber boot around the handle to make it look more "authentic"

Love the real deal though....especially in a $600 parts car. Yeah, I'm rubbing it in. :p

As I recall, his grips were stained in a purple hue... I'll not venture down the garden path regarding the significance of purple wood. :dgt: Suffice to say RuPaul went, "Day-umm, girlfriend!"

It also had one of those hokey, cheesy-looking imitation Tuff wheels.

Man, I gave him a ton of crap about both items. :D

Now that's some funny shit right there. rofl rofl

So then, it's safe to assume pistol grip automatics are, shall we say....undesireable?

Good points,

You sold me on the T-Shifter......cheaper anyways, that way I could get a steering wheel too. Mine is butt ugly.....Any recommendations?

I'm not sure if this is your thing but this is what's in my Barracuda (sorry about the wiring but this is the best angle I could get of the wheel):

They're fairly cheap if you get them off of Ebay. Grant makes one that's similar but the spokes are slightly different and I don't really care for it.
