Performance Clinic

Dr.Jass

Pastor of Muppets
This past Monday, myself and two of my guys attended the annual Auto-Wares performance clinic. This year's theme was "I didn't know we could get that!" There was a lot of very-cool stuff displayed and discussed; thankfully this year wasn't all diesels and Ventshades.

The two guys that put it on were the president of our Auto Performance division and the road-show guy, both of whom are racers. I've hung out with both of them a couple of times; good guys both and well-suited to what they're doing--they really are into high-perf stuff, not just standing there trying to sell parts.

Of course, the bastards turned on me, which was somewhat embarrassing but at the same time quite flattering. When they started the meeting, Ken (the road-show guy) said something to the effect of, "We always enjoy doing the District 1 presentation, because the biggest gearhead in the company shows up. Jass, raise your hand for anyone that doesn't know you." They picked on me in various ways throughout the rest of the presentation.

Anyhow, the point of the post is that if you live in Michigan, Wisconsin, northern Illinois or northern Ohio and have an Auto Value or Bumper to Bumper store near you, you've got a local source for a staggering array of performance parts. No, we're not as inexpensive as some of the mail-order houses, but you have no-hassle returns and warranties with no shipping fees or restocking fees... and you deal face-to-face with a real person, not a voice on the phone telling you no.

One of the things I got excited about was this little gem. Technology marches on, and who hasn't thought of owning an inexpensive POV camera? For $200, it's a steal... I may buy one for myself for LeBaron 318 track day. There are several videos on the site that show the quality of the image and sound, but one of our employees actually used one in a vintage snowmobile race over the winter (which he eventually won). Neither the video or the sound have been retouched, thought the vid has had some additions. I must say I'm impressed for such an inexpensive piece. I want one.
