Painful rant.

XLR8R

exhalted master of his nuts
I have a nice mountain bike.......a well optioned specialized Stumpjumper Expert FSR. I like it......my knees don't.
today, after a long bike ride, I have to re-trace our steps due to my wife losing her cell phone..... i am barely moving along but stand up and give it a good push. I damn near went over the handlebars, my right knee (my good one) slamming into the top of the ront shock. MY FUCKING CHAIN BROKE. Brand new, simply because I had it happen earlier. I am pissed, and damn near crippled again. I can't walk, my knee is swollen and has a huge 6" gash down it. all for a fuckin chain. fuckin fucks. :(
I am medded up and it still hurts like a bastard. I am so annoyed.
Yah know, if it was a $500 bike I would be more ok with it, but instead, I buy the most expensive, lightest bike I can afford, and I have two chains break. Hell, I raced BMX as a kid and I have NEVER broken a chain. WTF??????

did I mention I am pissed? Beer, anyone?:bravo:

i used to snap master links all the time and had those "knee killer" necks that always left a 1 inch wide dent and scare in knee's...i feel your pain...ALWAYS bmx..every 10spd i owned i couldnt keep a chain on to save my life

Sorry man, sounds like weak engineering.

I did go over on an old bike I drug out of a farmers junk pile, all new tires tubes etc, lubed everything up including the nasty old chain. I was standing and pedaling like hell when the chain broke sending me endo ( I remember flying) 13 years old "mild" concussion. I was blacked out for ten minutes even tho they said I got up immediately and started cussing everyone.

I damn near endoed it....... It wasn't a master that broke, 69, both times it was just a regular link. I can't believe they put on a $20 chain.....wtf. I am buying a good chain.

Perhaps something heavier...

Of course all your weight savings will be hosed. :shifty:

Damn sorry to hear you got hurt buddy, hope you heal quickly. :helpme:

Called it quite a few times....no response.

texted it.... "I am lost, please call my owner, REWARD". Phone rang 1 minute later. found it. :)

Jon, There is a place here in Strath that is very good. He is very well known in the area. Place is called Doug and Marion's Bikes on front street. I'm sure he could fix you up with a stronger chain that won't hurt your bod. [smilie=f:

Shit!
Been a long time since I've ridden a bike strenuously, but I can still remember the pain and panic of having a chain break. It was the first time I sprained my ankle - and damn near took away the future prospects of children.

Hope ya heel quickly, Bud.

Never broke a chain  but I did have wheel bearings go bad, and a spocket one time. Only time I ever went endo is when I was riding on the handlebars and my toe caught the spokes... I was 6 or 7 and I have pics somewhere...

A long time ago (in a state far far away...) I was wheeiling a BMX bike when the front wheel fell off. The worst part was at the time I was half way across a bridge going from Auburn to Lewiston. I don't really remember how that event ended up for some reason... [smilie=2:

Get well soon Bossman.

I love this site! Can't make this kind of stuff up. As I scrolled down to post a reply this is the irony I saw...[smilie=f:

sorry to hear that XL...hope you recover soon. :helpme:
my sister was an avid bike rider. she lived in juneo alaska. she was coming down a hill ready to cross a bridge and hit a pot hole and her front wheel came off. she said all she remembered was thinking "o-shit". got knocked out and someone found her along the side of the bridge and called the ambulance. her 2 front teeth jammed up into her gums, tore the corner of her lip and sliced her cheek. thank god she didn't go into the water!

well look at it this way, now you have a reason to be a lazy slob who does nothing but surf the web! AND.......get sympathy for it! :D

you cant be as hurt as i was when i snapped a crank or pedal clean off ......BIG air hurts!!!..bent alot of seat posts all the way to the tire

ROFL! You guys kill me....:D Where they on fire, boot? :)
Thanks Liz.....I know what it is like to put your teeth through your lips, that happened with my big bike accident. Sucks.
On an up note, most of the swelling is down and I can kinda walk a bit. I will try the stairs soon and try and keep moving. should help. :)
