over payed

For that kind of effort, you'd think maybe he could get the air cleaner on that Charger lined up right? :D

That was wasted effort, 1/24th models suck for looking real.

I like 1/18th a lot better. I recently got this one, for about 1/3rd the price.

The race-day decals are too sweet! :)

I've got a bunch of unopened models here. I just don't have the patience for it anymore. Damn this internet and TV! :D

Also started a pair of pinkies, a 70 roadrunner and a 71 Duster. Plasticoat pink is dead-on (enough) for FM3. I painted but never finished them.

Read my post about the company (in Mopar Media) that made that S/S Belvedere. I actually collect those little cars...it's the closest thing I've got to having a car, or maybe 60 of them (that's how many 1/18 I have, and I even have a lift and a little gas station diorama).

Cool, I've got about a dozen 1/18ths now. I've been trying to get the ones with race-day paint, got that one, color me gone, and the S&M Duster. Put in a pre-order for the Judy Lilly b-cuda, Drag-On-Lady Dart, and one other I can't remember. It might be the Dick Landy 64. :) I've been trying to get the Hemi Honker too, via e-bay for cheap(er), but no luck yet.

The problem we have is trying to display them. I need to get something that's actually furniture, so I can put them in the living room.

I get the display cases from www.diecastbymail.com (I get them there because they have a Canadian office. I imagine there are many sources for them.)

they have a oak base with a mirror floor and a nice plexiglass top.
This is what they have now:

It's a bit different than the ones I bought a few years ago.

If you're talking one big display case, then I dunno. There are places that make old fashoined gas pumps with glass doors and shelves in the body. Then there's diamond plate with glass goors and shelves. But I'm betting that wouldn't go over well in the living room. I've seen these at www.garageparty.com

1/24 and 1/25 do a dam good job of representing a real car when done up right..did ya see the pictures from taht show i posted..dam things could run if they were enlarged (or we shrunk)

Even though I'm as steady as Ali when it comes to that stuff, using both hands I can usually steady myself enough to do a good job. Likely a better job than those. They're pretty horrible. There was a guy on E-bay a few years ago that sold his cars for $200+ but they looked AWESOME. Underhood wiring (not just plug and battery wires), seatbelts, carpet, the whole works.

car

I disagree with you about the 1/25 models. The '69 Johan roadrunner kit is more accurate than the 1/18 '69 roadrunner diecast car. The quarters are totally wrong on the diecast.

The '69 roadrunner 6bbl model car that's advertized on e-bay has the wrong air cleaner on it, wrong shifter. The '68 pro street model has the dana in backwards and the air cleaner sideways.. [smilie=e:

Awesome to see so many into model kits here. I found that the lindberg big blocks are the most accurate detailed. I just bought this, its snap together but has awesome detail and choises of stocl or super stock versions.

Where do you guys get your models from? been looking for a 74 cuda with the perf hood for a while now and can't find nothing. Mainly want the body, to play around with some paint scemes

There's a pretty well stocked hobby shop here, and at christmas time Wally world stocks up too. Also at big shows you'll find people selling models, the pink A-body I started came from Nats.

This is what I was thinking of when I knocked 1/24 models - there's no doing this stuff up right because it's so wrong to begin with:

Yes Lindberg kits are amazing. Im currently building the 64 Ramchargers car and the engine and chassis are pretty impressive...the best engines are still the 440 mag and 426 HEMI from the promodeler kits..pretty dam good.

yeah that 71 charger is nice but no one appreciates the time taken in that..probably more than that expnesive one but people want a nice one not a realistic one..to bad

that amt 71 kits is a really good kit..the best amt has made so far..ive got 3 in the works right now..a hemi 4spd a 440 mag auto and a 6 pack 4 spd car..lol among with many other numerous projects

Wal-Mart stocks a '73 that's a snap kit. The rallye hood I got offa E-bay. It's a resin piece and it looks good. I think I paid $6 for it.
