In 1991 I drove my 69 GTX to a friends farm in Kansas, where it was to be "stored" and I moved to Missouri, then Iowa then MN and now back to Iowa. In that span My friend's folks died and they sold the farm. The GTX (i was told) was moved to another friends place. I visited the area 4 years ago and was told my GTX along with friends gto parts went missing along with a loser from town and that the cops did find some of friend two's stuff but not the cars.
I still have a moral and (first muscle mopar) interest, but wonder if I have and legal claim to the car IF I found it.
I kept quiet and didn't want to scare anyone into cutting it up. That was dumb
I hold what I believe is legal title to RS23L9G264138 issued on 6/20/88 in Kansas. I'm calling issuing county tomorrow.
I drove it to the place with a gas can taped to the hood and a little 600 holley. It had air-grabber scoops but no air-grabber, umm the brakes were fine, but that was 15 years ago. it was parked with 4 magnum 500's on it(from a swap meet, looked a bit skinny). The car was originally green with green console interior, when I got it the seats and dash were dyed white, I put the white panels along with the back seat from a 68 coronet, and made a package tray from plywood and blue vinyl with matching panel for mounting an aftermarket radio. I took the fender tag off cuz i was going to have someone decode it and it went missing in 89 or 90 [smilie=f:
lately I have run across the original AVS and the thumbwheel AM radio, makes me sad.
there are some hokey repairs I can recognize if not "fixed" I converted it to electonic ignition and charging in 88. I still have the cam card from 88, dunno if the machine shop that freshened the 906's marks his stuff.
the trunk was holy and the wheel houses didn't house much. I'll get a few more pics up soon.
the ratty one is mine in 90, pay close attention to the work on the front of the left fender and the break above the G on the grill and general fitment. I am looking for
RS23L9G264138, believed to be stolen.
EDIT: took out mention of all things bagged and a good guy's pic

well if it was reported stolen at that time then its still by all accounts...stolen..especialy if you still hold the title..but you may find yourself needing to "prove" that it was in deed stolen via copy of police report

If you in fact hold physical title to the car ( a paper title issued by a DMV), and the car is not where you left it, report it stolen!

1. Was the car reported as stolen?? If not cry alot and move on ....if it was
2. Is this a legit? title?? In Ohio that means it is registered in YOUR name and not just signed over by the previous owner.:naughty:
3. If both of the above apply get some info from the seller on ebay to verify its you car:shifty: then bid the heck out of it to make sure you win. :giggedy: Then show up to pick it up with the police ,title and police report from being stolen.:toot: Oh you might want to take a trailer too. :helpme:

These are the things that happen when you leave cars out of your control and possession they :xl: like to drive away never to be seen again.:xl:

1. was told it was reported stolen, will check for sure today. "Cry and get over it" I thought I was just about done but I see 'em and wonder if that's my part or car and drag it all up again.
2. Yes indeedy a real title I bought, titled, and tagged the car in 88 and drove it.
3. no response from seller, I asked for a shot of the upper rear shock mount, and the complete VIN

Better late than never I guess to get a "stolen vehicle report" 2nd on list for today after dog goes to the vet (shots and check-up)

GREAT!!!
Sounds like you are 2/3 of the way to maybe getting it back if its the one!!!:)

The one thing that I see that throws things off is the statement in the ad that the car was titled in South Carolina in 1988 - after your car was titled to you in the same year.

Car in ad - titled in S.C. Nov. 21, 1988
Your car - titled in Kansas Jun. 20, 1988

You would have still been driving the car at that time, right?

Of course, that hinges on the ad being truthful, but I can't see them bothering to mention something like that if they couldn't back it up.
Even if it weren't true, if they can back it up, you'll have a stinky fight on your hands, I think.

it's seeing this car and wondering....., that will at least push me into getting my ducks in a row if "the real" car surfaces.

Man that sure bites. I hope you have learned a valuable lesson no matter the out come. Mopars are getting more valuable by the day and stuff like this will happen more as time goes on. I hope you find your ride.

nevermind! Amazing what a few full res pics will do, green paint? nah that's duct tape.

Thanks for all ya'lls input, will still "get my ducks in a row" and find the old gal or parts. Maybe I'll have to scrape it up with a little shovel.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>folds up and puts away tin foil paranoia hat until next time :D
