Anyone played with this stuff?

everything ive played with is diesel.....thats a hell of a pretty ole ollly..our 60's unit aint half as pretty in "shape"

however since id be willing to bet its an off the shelf gm car dizzy..a pertronix unit should fit it just fine..its a matter of figureing out exactly what unit you need...

whats your reason for wanting to ditch the points?

whats your reason for wanting to ditch the points?
Points suck at and on everything, and they're not getting any easier to find for old farm equipment.

I've sold the Pertronix for a lot of applications. It's so easy it's almost unbelievable, and it works like a champ. Much better starts and a lot less maintenance in an application like this, plus other than the extra wire it's totally invisible and uses the stock cap & rotor. It's just better all the way around.

As long as you're on a 12V system and it fits your distributor number, you're golden. Check the catalog to be sure.

reason for ditching the points is because the tractor is hardly used now and the points are usually crapped over the next time the tractor is ever started up again.

easier starts are the main reason.
