Growing up we had one of those big ol' console Hi-Fi's, you know the ones....disguised as furniture and loaded with a turntable, AM/FM Stereo and if you was lucky a 8-track player.
Anyhow it was loaded with country music from the 60's and 70's which our mom listened to often. If you where in the garage with dad the radio was playing country. Always country...Hee-Haw was on every saturday night.
Can't stomach most country music now and really didn't like it then but every now and then I hear a song from that era, and it will bring a smile to my face.

He was still driving shortly before he died, competitive too.

Not sure about the 60's. He drove a Dodge thru most of the 70's, some were owned by Bobby Allison and I think he even drove for Pettys at some point.
They usually had his name on the side.

Grand National and ARCA I know he drove in occasionally.
