well every rat should begin very humble....ive had a build design rattling around..and took inventory and you know what the ideas started rolling and rolling hard and fast...
while cleaning the yard and moving things up to the 40...it was time to start digging some of my treasures out of the wood work
first off ive had a 56 354 hemi with 40k on the clock with castiron auto since about 94...whats it missing?...the carb but its been indoors since the late 60's and the exhaust manifold on one side is broke from when a cherry picker couldnt handle it and the trans..things broke and the picker got flattened the casualty was the manifold loosing a small section.....some years ago i managed to find a set of plug hole covers
next..when i was 12 or so..my dad was clearing a field making money off scrap....1985/6/7...i went out to help him and the next day he gave me a choice of 3 trucks sitting there...a 5 window 49-54 chev no doors no hood no rear fenders no gate but the glass was good, a studi pu from the 50's missing front axle all the glass and was really REALLY rough..and a 47 1 1/2 ton ford..aside from damn neer being a big rig with a big assed flatbed on the back it was complete no trans but 2 motors with it....i took the ford...it sat many years and even once the body was sitting on a mopar 1/2 ton frame ...i eventualy traded the body for a bulletproof 727 with ALL the goodies..
.of the 47...i still have the 2spd rear and drop i beam front and the frame......they got dragged out from under overgrown ivy today...where i put them about 12 or so years ago.....the rearend 20 inch duallys with 2spd 3rd member drop out AND inspection cover 16 x 3 or 4? inch drums with what looks like just shy of 3/8s brake lines....the whole unit moves freely and the tires are good enuf for my intentions....the dif moves free even the drums....
the front..not so lucky..the drums are stuck...but im not to worried..and yes the ford script is on the hubs which is cool
the frame ..ask tim if he remembers grinding drilling and punching the rivits for its dissasembly way way back when i first met him
so..ive got one NASTY big rat in mind..a rat wrecker...the body will either be a scratch build or maybe even peices of a 50's chevy pu....the grill i have a vission..anyone remember the big rig from the first 2 carmagedons...that grill only more evil with heat exchanger style flaps..tim gave the idea for wwII bombs for saddle tanks...the hemi will get nestled behind the front axle tail lights mounted INTO the rear axle houseing..trans..im actualy thinking a mopar toploader 4spd ...some kind of radical exhaust that turn up into stacks with flappers....low enuf to sit deep in the weeds z channeled frame all to hell
