i was on my way back from the Goodguys Nationals in Columbus, Ohio and we had been up since 0530 that morning it was a very good street rod show. it was a 4 hours trip there and 4 hours back..we made it to Detroit traveling on I-94 around 730 pm and there was construction so we had to detour, where we got lost and ended up on a street in detroit...not knowing where we were or anything about the area except the stories about detroit being a really bad place to be..my car decided to break down and i knew exactly what was wrong and how to fix it so i pushed the car off the road into a church parking lot and went to the nearest BP gas station and asked for directions to the nearest auto parts store. I was told the direction to go in by a nice gentleman. So we went back to my car to get a credit car that we forgot and when we were about to start the journey the gentleman and his wife asked if we wanted a ride to the auto store so we accepted, hoping that it was a wise idea. When we got to the store it was closed so the couple took us to a few other spots and they were all closed too in utter dissapointment the couple took us back to our car. When we looked on the same road we just broke down on there was a van that had broken down so we went to help them get the van off the road. When another gentleman named Ron arrived that just happened to stop to be a kind citizen. He found out about our problem as well so he said he would help us too. We got the van off the road and then Ron took us to an auto parts store where we got our part and then he drove us back to our car. I thanked him and can not thank Ron enough for his help and he went back to help the ladies in the van that we pushed off the road and we fixed my car and made the last hour journey home with me still being frustrated and my passenger laughing at me and cheering me up...we ended the trip in very high spirits and we would like to thank Ron for his help

Does this surprise anyone, people been doing that for years...
Anytime I travel I take a good map and avoid going thru the cities if possible.

Glad it worked out in your favor, now go buy a decent map... [smilie=e:

ohh i had a very good map......but between the road signs messed up and the co-pilot having toruble understanding the map and the engine deciding to die ...well it all equaled trouble
