Dr.Jass
Pastor of Muppets
Just found out about the release of the debut album from an all-gal rock band from SoCal called "Pretty in Stereo". They had put out an EP about this time last year--maybe a little earlier. I'm really excited to check this CD out... they've gotten some pretty good press, and even had some songs featured on A&E's "Rollergirls", a program I never watched due to the combination enormously-stupid subject matter and its being a "reality" show.
So why do I bring it up? Well, the bass player is a friend of mine from long ago named Cassandra Clawson. She grew up just a few blocks away from me, though I first really met her when I was going through my divorce way back in '96 and she was a bartender at my preferred hangout (more unnerving stories from that era, too). Smart, funny, and both speed- and Mopar-crazy. She actually thought my '72 SE was very cool, even though it was a battered wreck. "Yeah--but the potential!" she once said of it. She drives her Honda VFR750 as often as possible, and talks of her almost-unsettling desire to own a C7 '70 Charger R/T in her myspace.com profile.
I think she was still in high school back then (I'm fairly certain she was not of legal age to be tending bar), and since leaving Kingsford has gone on to get her master's degree in writing, is now one of the editors of an ATV magazine called Quad Off Road, and now rock stardom (of sorts). She's done very well for herself in the past decade.
So, anyhow, I ordered their CD on Monday, and I'm hoping to have it here tomorrow or Saturday. Those of you coming for the Fun Run will have to sit through it, even if it sucks (it shouldn't--their list of influences contains some pretty cool bands). Personally I've liked what I heard and can't wait to check out the whole album.
