Not a bad deal, really

There's a lot to like here, considering the parts content. Think about it, the car comes with an entire committee for the transmission (one of 'em being a Mexican kid), the carburetor's not serious about pumping, and it's got a new clutch that can sell stuff for you! :D

All kidding aside, as long as you're not serious about factory numbers, the tough stuff is done and most of the pricey bits are already bought. A few more grand and some elbow grease would go a long way with this one.

It's the start of a nice car, but to me, the sum of the parts doesn't jive with the price being asked. It never does. The value lies in turn-key operation, not in assorted parts in an incomplete car.
For the tremendous amount of work left to do - even by one's own self - it's far too high. $.02

Were it not a '70, I'd be more apt to agree with you. However, people will still pay $35K or more for non-numbers '70-'71 E-bodies. There's much left to do, yes, but none of it is terribly difficult. Even if you had to drop another $10K on it, odds are pretty good you'd be at least solvent on it, if not in a position to drop several grand in your pocket come sale time.

Of course, that "Dana" rear axle is a corporate 9.25" rather than an actual 60. That's not so bad, really. A properly-built 9.25" is an extremely strong axle.
