I'm putting the orig. block back in the car for it's appraisal this spring. So I figured I'd build a real pump gas engine for it (87 octane) and drive with that all summer...gettin too lazy in my old age to change engines in a weekend...
So I finished fitting the crank and rods to the block today and figured I'd post a couple of pictures...

The Crank and rods are K1 pieces...I think out of all of those China Cranks and rods out there these are by far the best of the bunch...every set of rods I've checked have been on spec..the cranks are by FAR better than the Eagle and that other stuff out there...

Wow. That is kinda impressive for stuff from China, isn't it?
Rob? If I am really good and sit quietly, will you build a motor for me? :)

No Kidding....that's the only Chinese crank I've ever seen that has been knife edged...I've used two cranks so far and they both have been on the money (no taper on the throws) and I've checked 10 sets of rods and they all have been on spec ...every one of those other chry specialty house cranks that I have touched needed to be ground.and I will not talk about the rods:doh: ...

There not that much more...$100 on the crank and $50.00 on the rods...There 4340 material both crank and rods...
I've seen them all and I think this is the best stuff out there as far as off shore stuff goes.IMHO

Well you should always check the rod bolts and give the rods a quick touch but when you have to grind the crank to get the index back where it belongs and get the taper out...that a bit much...but what do you want for $600...real cranks cost 6 to 10 times that...
but half the guys buying this stuff can't afford it and when you tell them it's going to cost X amount to correct what ever is wrong that's when my trouble starts...

Ummm, Dave? The man is wearing chaps with nothing else.....he just humped an elephant. He is too damn sore to do anything else.

Looks good Rob....87 octane !

That's quite the departure from your "usual" stuff :D :bravo:

Ron

Ron...got to take care of this block...it's the orig for the X..I'm still going to put main caps in it but keep the compression down...4340 crank and rods and 9.5 to 1 it'll live for ever...with a nice little roller cam...it should sound like a stock 440...
