New Job

Well, I haven't been around much this past week. I started my new job last monday and i don't have any time to dick around on a computer. i worked in a mercedes/bmw/volvo dealership until the wednesday before last and had to leave because i needed to make more money to support my family. now, i work for maffei landscaping. yes, i left the car business to be a landscaper. let me tell you just how happy i am with my decision!

at this really large landscape company there's a lot of different things that i can choose to do. i started off on the mulching crew. the foreman and myself are in a $200,000 truck that really is a big hopper with a mechanism that operates like a supercharger that spews mulch or anything else for that matter out of a 200' hose. we can lay 40 yards of mulch in 5 hours (as much as 10 guys with a wheel barrow can do in 2 days). it looks great too! i get to be outside all day, witch is really nice. i already have a sunburn! it's good to finally put in an honest hard days work. it's 10-14 hours a day but it's SOO damn worth it in the end. i'm hitting overtime by lunch on thursday and still have friday and saturday to earn time and a half. needless to say, the pay is far better than sitting around in a car dealership. i get to take pride in my work. all that i did in the car dealership was get shit on all day. now i get "thank you"s and "my god, that looks beautiful".

well, hopefully it's not forever.. i would rather be in a business where i can use my brain instead of my body, but for now, the work is easy- i'm glad i'm 21 and 6'2".

i don't know why i decided to make this thread, but i figured someone should know that i'm excited to leave a failing dealership and jump on board of a rapidly growing company. well.. that's it. :bravo:

Congratulations on finding a job that you like and provides better economic security, at least temporarily. My only concern about the landscaping business would be what happens in the winter? Will they still have work for you then, or will you need to look for another job? Here in Iowa where I live, many of the landscapers try to line up snow removal contracts to carry them through the winter months.
