Dragged home a 70 Swinger parts car. Turns out it has disc brakes with 4 piston calipers, on a small bolt pattern. I'm trying to find out info about them, I heard they are pretty rare. I need to finance this parts car that I bought for a couple hundred bucks so I want to sell them. What do you think they are worth for the complete set up?

73 up A body disk setups are going for 200 and up depending on what kind of mood the seller's in at the time ;)

Is it a V-8 car? I need a 22" rad and shroud for a Duster I'm putting a 340 in. Does it nave an 8-3/4" in it?

Do an inventory on what it has worth selling and run an ad in the Classified section here.

Thanks...didn't even know there was a classified section here. It is (was) a 318 car, no radiator or shroud though, sorry. Actually, it is missing the entire front end except for the K frame and the front disc brakes. I bought it for the A-body sure grip 8 3/4 and some misc. parts for my Dart project.

4-piston calipers? I think most people are avoiding those because replacement parts for them are rare as hell. I could also be thinking of something else but I'm pretty sure those are the ones.

well the big problem with those is 1 there small bolt and we all know how hard it is to find the sizes of rims we want in small bolt
2 is the fact that the 4 piston setup is expensize as hell to replace/rebuild and they love to lock up 2 out of the 4 pistons...
imo they unreliable junk unless your dead set on keeping small bolt and want disk's

Yeah, that's what I thought, they are probably only desired by someone who wants to do a correct restoration. I don't want them because replacement parts are super expensive and I'm converting to a large bolt pattern anyway. Hopefully someone out there wants them, though. Thanks again for the replies.

Would those calipers work on a B-Body setup?

I REALLY don't think you want them. Very pricey to maintain and service. Call your local parts store before you buy them.

All of the brake system is cheap...ask me how I know...the ONLY exception are the calipers.... but for a purist, yah can't beat em if yah need em! :)
and welcome!

Well, I already have 4 piston calipers on my Charger.
It came that way. I'll be setting it up with them again.
I'm keeping my eyes peeled for parts.. and for rebuilders in the future
I figure tis is one way to do it.. no?

yeah DEFINATLY if your going to rebuild them or even use them get them SS sleaved otherwise your just wasting your $$$

Cool! Thanks for the info.

So, 70Swinger, if the whole setup is worth about 200, what do you figure the calipers are worth?

I guess I should first ask if you're willing to split the setup apart..

(My wife is going to kill me)

Dave,as stated above, the spindles are junk, and the rotors too!,the calipers will need servicing, the only way to do that is find some cheap NOS parts,or send them in to a shop with access to the parts for rebuilding,,they are worth about $20 each as cores,,from this guy! that's why they are still on the car,and the rest of the frt. clip is gone,if they were late style BB pattern, they would be long gone,,I know where there is a set nearby,,but I never checked to see if they were 4 piston or not as the car isn't going anyplace,it is a '73 swinger,I just noticed one day,in my rush to get to the B body's,surrounding it, that the calipers were hanging still and the rotors were gone, and made a mental note, to go back and get the spindles when I had more time,,

Dave,I'd go ahead and inspect the ones you have, they looked like good cores to me when I saw them,IIRC they were still functioning,as I remember having to get their deathgrip free ,a couple times, before pulling the K frame, while rolling the chassis around the shop,,,
