New car!

The paint fumes have cleared so I'm
My wife bought an '02 Volvo S40. 1.9 litre, small turbo, 66k, loaded with most of the fun stuff. :)

For a small engined machine, it pulls really well. I backed out at 180 kilo's and it was still accelerating. Stuck to the road at that speed too.:giggedy:

Anyone want to buy a 98 New Beetle?

I get MY new car next week. 1982 Volvo 242.:D

Right on....always liked Volvos for some reason,...not really sure why though.:hmmm: I just like em. :)

Not a chance after what I've encountered with them personally and all the fun my friends have had with VW cars.

I sense a SB Mopar transplant. I also like this one that I posted before.

Truthfully, I've wanted to put a big block in one for quite a while.:D
But the 2.1 only has 135k on it and runs pretty good, so in it stays.

The Bug has been a good car for us - had some problems, but it is a first year car. Both power window cables broke, but the repair kit was only $40 each and we replaced the left power window switch.
But, my 11 year old son is now 5' 6" and is getting kind of cramped in the back seat on long trips. He's not gonna get any shorter, so it's the car thats gotta change.

LOVE volvo's ..and cant say a signle wrong thing about one...funny if ya watch movie's the silly car getting in a wreck is always a volvo cause its eeasily reused :P...ive seen f350's smash into em and push em into the car infront of them...both 350's that did this were NOT driveable and had the bumpers shopved into the wheels..as well as one of the cars that the volvo's hit was not driveable...in both cases the volvo's were driven away

My co-worker has one a dem 240 wagons, mid eighties vintage I believe. Good solid transportation.:)

If you turn it on it's roof you have a new teeter totter!! :bwuhaha:Getting onto it may be a bitch though:hmmm:

This S40 is one nice car!
Sooooo smooth and quiet you'd think it was an upper level Volvo, not the entry car.

And when you get on it - it almost growls!
Transmission shifts REALLY well at full throttle and the little mill runs it well past 200kph :giggedy:.

Just kidding... quality European cars are always a hoot.

When I was in Atlanta for Kevin's wedding last year, I got a ride in my friend's twin-turbo Audi S4. We were cruising up Highway 78 near Stone Mountain at maybe 75MPH, and he says to me, "Y'know, it'll never win a drag race, but that's not what it was designed to do." He then eased into the accelerator, and before I knew it, we were clipping along at 140MPH. That thing accelerated like it was powered by dilithium crystals or some form of black magic--deceivingly smooth, but your eyes don't lie when they're blurring like that. Right around that speed came the point at which I said, "I get the idea, Todd. Let's not kill me... I'm the best man."

Though he complained that there was "a lot left," he backed out of it, taking into account the Friday night traffic probably more than my reticence to go any faster.

Audi.

I'm absolutely loving this Volvo (too bad I won't get to drive it much).
Its hard to explain to people that Olaf's Ovlov will really scat. Driven like white man, it gets around 35-40 mpg.

And the four wheel discs stop. Period.

Friend had an S4 Avant w/uprated turbos, extrude honed manifolds and an modded computer. It would re-attach detached retinas.
I owned a 122GT with a re-located shifter from IPD, Weber side drafts, a header and a slightly hotter cam. Fun little car.

owning the alfa has shown me one thing...europeans are SHORT lil shits that love the corners..its fun to mash the gas in 5th gear at 55 and be at 95+ befor you realize it
