After talking it over with my friends, and looking at the costs of renting a place and all the other stuff I would need, the idea of stuffing an 83 Imperial with a new 5.7 hemi, while very tempting is going to cost waaaaaaaay too much. Probably in the 35K range when all is said and done.

So...

I want to get the biggest barge Chrysler made in the 70's as my daily driver. What was the biggest, longest model and year? I think it was '76 New Yorkers.

What other 70's model would you think is the coolest? I want that plush driving on a cloud feeling those cars had.

Not me.....I like the earlier Imperials....though not a C body, just as big, if not bigger! :D

As far as wheelbase goes, Newport/NewYorker had 124.0" from 1965 to 1977.
1978 they had 123.9"
1979 was a mere 118.5"

Might I suggest the Imperial LeBaron from 1967 thru 1973, sporting a 127.0" wb, or the earlier ('57-'66) which were offered with the standard 129.0" wb.
If you are lucky you can find a 1970 LeBaron (Stageway body) Limo with the 163.0" wb. ( there were an estimated 6 built)
P.S. the '83 Imperial is the lowest production run for the '81-'83 year Imperial at 1,427 units

Thanks guys! I'm going to spend most of Saturday (if it doesn't rain) scouring the old folks for these...

Oh and guess what! REmember how I was saying there aren't any cool mopars in South Florida....turns out this place is chock full of cool Mopars and by looking at the pictures, I have figured out it's about 10 or 20 minutes from my house... I just have to kill at least three heads of state and collect the money before I can buy any of them:

check it out...this is ebay Kool-Aid fer sure dude.

for boats i love the imperials and the yorkys

as for that chally..i will always love that hood..but the add is wel....fishy at best..no shifter? obviously red under alot of that blue 160k?!?!?!

If you dont upchuck at the thought of a wagoon, I have a 73 Town and Country all original with 60 on the clock. I can pretty much assure you its the biggest of the big. You could tow your vert at 100 as long as you didnt have to stop too quick. It has a larger reciever hitch than my pickup and the cruise works. [smilie=e:

The '73 T&C wagoon rides on a 122.0" wb, looks like the NYer is just a shade longer at 124.0". I'm not sure on overall length, just have wb specs here, so the wagoon may be longer overall.

I was always partial to these, not quite the boat you want but. [smilie=e:

That's one of those Hurst special editions isn't it? Those are nice if you can find 'em.

The idea of a station wagon isn't totally out f the question for me...you're right they are the biggest of the big, but my Road Runner doesn't get towed anywhere [smilie=b: ...stocks are for investing and cars are for driving.

Although...maybe if I decide to go to Mopars on the Strip one of these years I would consider towing...maybe...towing seems like such a hassle and I can practically move my house in the Runner's trunk.

Or if I bought a Corvette...lol (as if that would ever happen)

The old couple that had this one used it to pull an Airstream with. Its a true 9 passenger with the flip up seats. Too bad its so expensive to run, Im going to Topeka next week for my moms 70th birthday and it would be fun to take. I will drive my hosemobile instead, 35 mpg is better than 10. Thats a pretty 300, used to have a 69 that was purchased for the motor but never did anything with it. Good luck with whatever you decide to do. [smilie=e:

or how about a relatively rare GT?

why do i always fall for the furys?!?!?!?..there are some realy nice ones that float around..had a 73 that was gutted for the 360 and that ole girl just floated like a caddy

That's the cool thing about those cars..all floaty and quiet like rolling around in a soundproof living room.

So is this one....
and surface rust on left front fender.

I don't see any "surface rust"... I don't even see a surface!!!!!! [smilie=e:[/quote]

Must be a tropical illusion, I can see right through it. [smilie=e:

I kinda like the 70 Fury's too,but also can't beat the 2 dr. 77 new yorkers for looks and ride, and they have great lines,,,,Dave I'm going to my old stompin' grounds in a few weeks, bet I can pull 10 Fury's out of there with less rust than anything that guy has,and for 1/10th the price,,,lol
