ok, 1987 Dakota 4x4 3.9/manual

there is a squeeling at speeds above 55 mph. I first thought it was a wheel bearing, but when i took it all apart (its a sealed hub) i found that it was felt fine. (no play or gritty feeling at all when i turned it by hand)

I did find early today that Both the passenger side mounting holes on the caliper bracket were stripped....so today i helicoiled it for a while and put it back together, but it styill makes the squeeling. I gotta take this truck on a 1000 road trip home (moving back to ND) and hopefully one of you guys will have an idea that'll be relatively quick to fix.

so far nobody I've talked to has had any ideas of what this could be...

help!!!!

so the passenger wheel bearing and bearing races all looked fine? Hmm. Belts are good then to huh?

And thats got IFS then (Idependant Front Suspension for those who don't know that) Nothing else like controle arms? Other suspension parts on that side that look in need of replacing?

i had to go by feel on the wheel bearings, as they are a sealed hub unit.

I cant see anything else really wrong under the front end, except for a torn inner CV boot on the passenger side. which could have grit in there

Right now the plan is to just drive it tomarrow and pray for the best, and tear it apart after I get back.

Without actually removing the wheel bearing assembly and spinning it by hand it can be difficult to diagnose. If the pitch or volume of the noise changes when swerving to the left or right I would suspect the bearing.
