Well, okay, it's not new. We've actually had it for several years now, and used it alot back in the '90s when we were racing. But, last time it was used was in '98 when we went to the U.S. Nationals with Pat Storey. First and only national event we've ever been to. That was back when Pat was just starting out with the Dakota p/u, when it had the hemi in it, and he asked us to come so that Mike could help crew. And, we were all staying in our motorhome. So, we went the week before and got a good spot at the campground, and brought this with us.
So, it hasn't run for about 11 yrs. Our buddy Tom Lynch is a whiz with small engines, motorcycles, etc., so we took it to him and he freshened it all up and got it running again. Surprisingly, he said the gas in the tank was not varnished, so that is good. But, he cleaned it all out anyway.
We wanted to do this since my back problems have become more severe (since the accident...........two years ago TONIGHT, BTW!), and I have difficulty walking. Next weekend, Mike and I are taking the race car up to Cayuga to run the ONDR event on Saturday, then the points race on Sunday (George will be away). Will be taking this with us........now all I have to do is learn how to drive it again! :giggedy:
