My new old parts washer....

Drowning deep in my sea of loathing...so I'm
My father had this old parts washer sitting outside his shop for years, kept bugging him to give it to me....well I finally got it a couple weeks ago.

I pulled it apart and cleaned it up but I need some new parts to get it working properly.

Here is what it looks like now after clean up...

And this which I guess is the solvent fluid filter...

So I was thinking of using a fuel filter...a cheapy clear plastic one...instead of this bag with a filter inside....might not have as long a service life with the fuel filter but sure it would be cheaper than a factory replacement unit.

I also need to replace the rubber hoses and schtuff but should have it together and working after a run to Princess auto for the needed supplies...:giggedy:

what about an oil filter instead..perhaps some kind of screen setup

id probably run one of the "glass" fuel filters with the cleanable element

looks like a nice one with a real fire door.

Got lost in your photo gallery that one bitchin' Winneyorker.

Well the fluid pickup/pump suction end sits inside a tube within the cleaning fluid with a little clearance on the bottom and off to one side of where the fluid drops back down into the tank so it shouldn't pull up too much debris.

A glass filter set-up with a washable element would be a good idea...maybe from an industrial machine supply house??

I still use an old minnow bucket...

Ohhh! Good choice! The swimming action of the minnows saves lots of work when parts need to be scrubbed! You must clean the bucket quite often though. I’m not sure if it’s the grease, the solvent, or the work that kills the minnows but I do know they start to stink of you don’t change them out regularly,
