so ive been trolling around for a DIRT CHEEP cab to build a rat around..there was 3 stipulations....cheep...flat glass and it must "speak" to me
so i found a couple of local options toooooooo cheep to not atleast go look at
a 51 willys no tittle 175$ ..what the guy told me over the phone had me thinking it was fairly a basket case with more dents than i could shake a stick at...when i got there....i was blow away to say the least...some of the floor was cut out and gone but the solidity of the cab was insane...the dents counted 3 1 small crease line type in the roof one 2 inch long one where the driver door swung to far and a slight fold on the passenger rear cab corner....what took the extra step was the glass was mostly there the dash all there with gauges..and then(youl see it in the back ground shots) a 57? wagon version thats cut just after the doors...mind you im 6'4 so if im going to do about a 6inch chop on any cab it will HAVE to be extended...the second cab and doors...50$
the next was a 47 ford(42-47)....and i have a very very very soft spot for them..there a beautifull truck..and i wish id have gotten more pic's especially of the one he WASNT selling....the one i went to look at had allready been chopped but was "unfinished".....lets just say that if i wanted to finish it..id have to cut the top off and start over..along with new doors...he bought it that way..and yeah its bad....out back he had another cab that was blasted clean and what not with some rather intresting bed work sitting on an import pu frame..that spoke to me a bit but knowing the bed wasnt the direction i want to go and the fact he wanted 1k for the whole thing....all i could do was walk away
heres what we went and looked at as well as saw along the way
first the willys
a random oopsed turn and what a beauty
onto the ford stop....
and a studie he had sitting out back as well
all in all the willy has jumped up and screamed in my ear.....
