mopar w5 heads

I just stumbled on to a set of mopar blue plug w5 aluminum heads for the small block.

They are unmachined and raw. I already have all the w2 stuff to bolt on to them so i started to debate. Damn brain.

Are they worth the price of admission? thinking for lightweight and i am using high octane at the moment on the 340 with the w2 heads. I really dont like that aspect of price at the pump.:hmmm:

all the valvetrain would work on the w5 heads as far as i can research. Thinking to pick them up and put them up on the shelf for future possibilities.:hmmm:

What are your thoughts on these heads? i do know about the porosity issues the early w5 heads had.

anybody played with them?

Well, the aluminum makes less power than cast iron unless you bump the compression up another full point to rectify the loss of thermal efficiency.

That, combined with the fact that the W5 heads were an engineering misfire that never really performed as well as the W2s, and I'd say spend your money elsewhere. :D
