Mickey Thompson murder going to trial?

Looks like former business partner Michael Goodwin, whom Mickey Thompson had paired, then later split, with in a stadium-racing enterprise back in the mid-'80s is going to be tried for the 1988 murders of Thompson and his wife, Trudy, in their Bradbury, CA driveway.

Apparently, though two black men were seen on bicycles pedaling up to the Thompson household, and apparently even doing the shooting and riding away, authorities are sure Goodwin was behind it and have something like 20 witnesses to Goodwin stating he was going to get Thompson in one way or another... and the presiding judge felt those witnesses were strong enough reason to proceed with trying Goodwin, even though all the evidence is circumstantial.

It'll be interesting to see what testimony gets allowed in court, and what gets thrown out as hearsay... no date has been set, but I'll surely be watching this one closely.

i was not in california painted black and riding my bike ...if thats what you are all wondering [smilie=e:

DAMN! I remember seeing that on the news! I'd like to know what has taken them so fuggin long to go to trial! [smilie=s:

Dave!

It would be good to see that resolved - I too remember it from the news.

Murder over business dealings is absolutely foul - but to end the life of someone's wife/family over such disagreements is beyond disgusting.

I think they based an episode of CSI on that murder. Can't those script writers come up with anything original?

I was just wonderin' the other day, if anything ever came of that. Seems I heard about some developments, a couple years ago, then never heard anything more...

nasty business.

It's a hard case to litigate w/out any real witness accounts ,,,placing goodwin at the scene will be impossible, the state will try to prove conspiracy,,that's why it has taken so long, most judge's will not let hearsay evidence into court, the state must have some info that we haven't heard about as of yet,,,there was a documentary a few years back depicting the actual belief's of the thompson family and lawyer's,..........surviving family member's are the one's pushing for the trial,,the state doesn't want to prosecute,as they have no evidence,,,saying you want to kill somebody and actually doing it ,are 2 different thing's,,it will be an interesting argument,,,I still think the state must have some good evidence to proceed,as they have declined to form a case for 15 years,,,until now,,,is it actually a criminal court case or a civil case ?//

It's a criminal case... and they've apparently had enough evidence to A) convince a grand jury, and B) keep Goodwin in jail for well over 2½ years...
