Daimler AG presented a new commercial van for the North American market at the 2015 Work Truck Show in Indianapolis, Indiana. The Mercedes-Benz Metris is a U.S. market-adapted version of the Vito that was introduced at the IAA commercial vehicle show in Frankfurt, Germany, last September. It will go on sale here this October. Like the Vito, the Metris will be built in Vitoria, Spain. To avoid the 25% “Chicken Tax” tariff on imported commercial vehicles, Metris panel vans will be shipped as completely knocked-down kits to the Daimler Van Plant in Ladson, South Carolina, for final assembly.
