mediablasting...tight spaces?

anyone know of a device to get into "tight" spaces when blasting..ie areas like the inside of frame rails cowls and such....seems i could rig something up im just wondering if something is allready made for such work....

seems to me if you could blast these areas out then lay down a good primer with a wand or whathave you ..youd end up with a rig that would truely never rust ever again

In the past I've rigged up a sandblast gun with heater hose over the nozzle for hard to reach spots. The hose wears out really fast, but it's not like the blasting took more than 10 minutes or so anyway, so it didn't matter much.
I found the sand had to be dry as can be and the hose no longer than a foot past the nozzle or it just didn't work. There's NO control over where the sand goes though, it's like a shotgun blast. If it's in way or anywhere close, it'll get hit...
Painting was the easy part - I used my undercoating pressure pot. You can get them anywhere, think mine came from Napa.
I figured if it will spray oil through that wand, it sure as heck will spray paint.
Same thing as the sand: it will go everywhere and there is no fan pattern to speak of. :)

It's a trial and error kind of thing though...

ive acualy got an undercoating wand with a 6 inch, 1 foot and 3 foot aluminum quick change wands with 3 different tips..straight, 90, and more a blow gun..as well as a clear tube adaptor ..if you cant get in there with that setup of paint youll never get in there with anything lol....i cant help but wonder if the same setup couldnt be copied to do media

I've wondered about this as well. I have a sandblasting "paint gun", with the little cup on it, that uses a thread-on nozzle. I've never tried to do it, but it's occurred to me to try making a threaded metal extension of some kind that would then accept the tip at the end. :hmmm:

yeah your thinking along the same lines i am.....however ive seen some otehr versions..where you have a small media tube that feeds all the way to the tip to keep the extension from getting blasted
