Wifey is wanting a new computer as all we have is my old laptop.

We are thinking about getting a Mac but know very little about them. She wants to work with pictures, graphics and such along with internet. Any insight, advice or comments?

Thanky. :)

My brother has one and he had it here on Christmas day - lots of cool stuff!

Ideal for for graphics, pictures, and stuff like that.

My daughter is buggin for one, and I wouldn't mind having one in the house to play with...

I don't have one , nor have I ever had the pleasure to use one, but I have heard that for graphic work a Mac cannot be beat.

From all I've heard in the graphic print industry, Mac is the only way to go. Fast, stable, compact, and nobody seems to create viruses for them. As far as gamers go I don't know how they are.

I have a large screen IMac, and I really enjoy it. The graphics are super, the film editing software is super easy to use, and the operating system is very user friendly. What I really enjoy is turning the thing on, and it's ready to use. No waiting five f**king minutes for the computer to "think", and no getting another five minutes of sales pitches for "updates" & spyware. Oh yeah, they're not very virus prone, either. That may change as more people buy them, though, but for now, life is good for Mac owners. I've heard fans of PC's say that the disadvantage of Mac is the inability modify the computer, but for those of us who like to take it out of the box & use it, Mac is super.:giggedy:

Did you know you can run windows on a mac also along with the apple os. Them c-s classes are paying off.

Mainly, so you can keep using all the apps you bought for Windows...
Some just aren't available for the Mac.

I have a new Mac.....I really like it. 'Cept for when it talks to me, then never answers back.....kinda like my wife. :(

I use a Mac every day... for the last 18 years. It's the only choice for working with graphics IMO. I do switch back and forth from PC to Mac also... PC's work great for my web design work, but I do the all the graphics on my Macs and then produce the web pages on the PC.

They are FAST, and expensive. BUT, this is truly a case of you get what you pay for. There are no cheap parts in a Mac.

When I was working at the tech school as a Graphic Design instructor I also maintained almost 80 macs in the student labs. Very little down time, and they are extremely user friendly.

If the funds are not a problem, I'd recommend one without any hesitation.

p.s. I'm on a Mac right now :)
