Lost another friend today....

Can't Make Friends
[smilie=c:

I had to put my dog down today. Apparently he had cronic kidney failure. All the tests and treatments didn't help so we authorized the vet to stop treatments and put him down. He was a damn good dog, a seven year old Golden Retriever, kind and loving, but unfortunately sick.

Funerals are a bitch.......... [smilie=c:

Sorry to post a downer....

Buddy was a great dog. Sorry it had to happen. Glad I could help tonight.

So sorry to hear of it John, really sux. [smilie=s:

7 is horribly young. I feel for you. My dog Kenya turned 13 this month....I am not looking forward to what you are facing. :( Remember the fun.....

Sorry to hear that John... I lost my dog to exactly the same thing; when Sidekick said he hadn't eaten or drank in a few days, I wondered but hoped it was just homesickness. 7 seems so young for that to happen I didn't think it was possible... mine was almost 14 when he got sick.

Hope you're hanging in there; probably being the strong guy for the missus if I know you. My sincerest sympathies... he was a damned-fine dog.

We can't thank you and Sidekick enough for your help and support. I'm just so glad we have friends like you guys.... ALL you guys!

Thank you all for the condolences...

Apparently Buddy may have had the kidney disease since day one, but not noticed until Sunday when he was at the end...

Thanks again guys and gals.. [smilie=e:

Sotty about your loss. Goldens are a wonderful and loving dog. I know that cause we have 2 of them. A 5 year old in August and an 8 1/2 mo old pup. Unfortunately the 5 year old was just diagnost with hip displacia. Both sides with the right the worst. He helped a whole lot with the dog guide foster puppies that we had for almost 3 years. When we wanted the pups to do something we would have him do it first and they would watch and emulate him. Out of the 3 dogs 2 became seeing eye dogs. The last one graduated 2 weeks ago. The new owner is sure impressed with what the dog is able to do to open up his life. Being blind and using a cane for 22 years and now to have not only an extension of himself and a very loving companion all in one he feels his life will be all the more meaningful. Once again to the love of a family DOG. God bless all the four legged ones for what they do.

My sincerest condolences. I know exactly how you feel. My family just lost our dog to cancer this past October, Candy was 14. I miss having a dog runnin around. It gets better with time...
