Looking for a decent digital camcorder....

dustergal

I have serious issues, so I'm
We've got a crappy/old analog camcorder and I want to replace it with a digital one. Can anyone recommend a good one that didn't cost a fortune? It will be used mostly at the drag strip.

thanks!

I remember reading an review not long ago that recommended MiniDV over DVD/HDD camcorders and MiniDVD. The reason? New camcorders compress the image so much that they make the output awful. The only drawback is getting it onto your computer (MiniDV is a tape format). DVD/HDD camcorders have a DVD or hard drive for storage. Also, tapes last longer than the other formats. If you use HDD, you can risk losing it all if your computer crashes and DVD's won't last forever.

Both the cameras I bought were miniDV's off ebay, pretty damn cheap too.

This JVC with night vision for $150US shipped and this Panasonic with zoom mic and widescreen capabilities for $100 shipped. :giggedy:

I was making a joke. :D

I was trying to sell you an $80 camera for $200.

MiniDV is the way to go IMO, it uses tapes but most use SD memory cards also (Like the two I bought.) so you can have videos that a pure digital and nothing is stored on the tape.

They also use better technology then the old Hi8 video cameras which is what I think your old one is.

MiniDV is the best bang for your buck IMO. :)
