First really nasty surprise, this car was rolled or the owner liked to dance on the roof!, found a big puddle a lead under the bondo I ground out, hard to see in the pic but the whole roof is wavy [smilie=e:

Thought it had too easy a "give " when I was cleaning her up, after I found the bondo I took a look at the underside, 2 supports sitting with an inch gap to the roof, this is gonna be interesting, will consult my mentors on this one, guess we jack em up or maybe replace the supports then rework the skin????????

Now this looks great from the other end of the yard, but 4 hours dryin time, outdoors on a windy day, well lets just say I got some chit in my paint!( the bugs I will fossilize in there!)

I'm gonna be sore tomorrow, my back still aint right, right arm is tight already, feet hurt like hell, but I accomplished the goal of gettin the top rustproofed, ugly, oh yea, but now I can take my time & access the car mechanicaly to see where I stand!
tomorrows party was cancelled, so IF I can move(Ya notice the big if) I wanna finish the welding on the bottom of the 73 so i can move along on that!

Thanks guys, the goal was to get it rustproofed & a little more pleasing to the eye(of the blight inspectors) [smilie=e:
XL, its a rust proofing system, sensitive to uv so in a way it is a primer coat, but for now it's the only coat it's gettin! [smilie=e: Rich.

With the top black instead of blue!!!!!!! might mess with it when I coat the rest of the car, won't be exact scheme but close enough to turn a head or 2!

sanded out the leaves , dirt & bugs today & got the 2nd coat on the roof & deck areas, set up our new 10' party tent to keep some of that outta my 2nd coat!
Got 1 leaf 3 bugs & one fuzzy seed at last count! [smilie=e: Rich.

Update on the roof brace, charger man was over to sign some papers on the pickup(another story [smilie=e: ) & we did a closer inspection & lookin at the 73, that brace in the pic doesn't exist(or at least it's not supposed to) but i may reshape it & weld it in if I can't get a firm feel on the roof! there's only one of those in the 73 by the dome light! was gonna second coat the hood today(it was beautiful here), but I hit the couch after little guys practice & never got out there, I'm gettin old! [smilie=e: Rich.

With the roof being messed up like that, have you considered just chopping it and getting one from another car?

I've aquired a taste for a challenge, this may be the one that stumps me, but I will give it an honest attempt before I try a reroof, gonna pull out the "extra" one(it's only rivited in), reshape it with the 73 as a template, then see if I can do the main one in the car, after that its all tin work, so I have an idea how to attack it, just see if it works???
