...but if you've never posted, or not posted on this board in over a year, why the hell am I still looking at your car in the banner across the top? If you contribute nothing, why should your car be featured here? Maybe the high-falutin' site you're at daily will feature your car.

Maybe I've just accumulated too many magazines over the years, but pics of non-contributors cars don't affect me in the least, in fact I find them annoying since active members' cars could be in the banner more often.

Just me being a jerk, but I think it's a valid point.

Valid point - I agree.

I can see quite a couple cars that not only are the owners not active, but I don't think they own the car any more.

There's a couple exceptions that I think are desrving of "lifetime membership" however....
 
:D I have to disagree with Jass :D. The overall history of Moparnuts is in that banner. If you constantly threw away the old to make way for New... Where would all the Classic cars be right now?

Besides seeing the same 8 cars would get dull pretty quick.
But since I'm in a semi-generous mood, I'll resize a few and send them off to the head banner guy.
Care to share the load there jester with your new hot-rod dart?
 
Opps, just saw a banner pic of the jestermobile. Disregard the last transmission 10-4 over.

I've moved a few out of rotation but keep them handy in case we need the pics back, but it's a manual process and prone to screw ups - like taking the wrong file out of rotation for example.

I like the history idea though. It makes sense.

On the other hand, I have been toying with the idea of changing to the banner system built in to the software now. It uses pictures in your personal albums.
If we do that, you'd have to get pictures in to your albums and I would have less work to do.... :hmmm:
but then I'd have to figure out how to get all the old ones we WANT to keep in play - maybe I'll throw them in my album or in a dummy user account....

Watch for it to show up soon. I'll put it in below the current banner so we can compare - you'll just have to do some scrolling until we decide what we like....

I just started fooling with the garage albums, and there will be stuff I'm sure folks wouldn't want to look at on a daily basis, rust shots, before and after, and stuff like that.
Is there a way to glean say files named banner*.jpg? then in our garage albums we could name the files we'd like to see in the banner. banner01 banner 02 etc. Of course my old argument stands, with public access to the banner, what's to stop me if I get juiced on rum and put up a picture of my tallywhacker, enlarged of course? :toot:

You have a strong enough Zoom on that camera to make it noticeable....:huh::shifty:

I like that too. As for which one's to keep in play. We could go through our pictures and caption the ones we want to use with our user name. Like Boothead, I have a couple in there that wouldn't be appropriate for it.

*Now don't everybody go stampeding to look either! It ain't like that. :D

I see where Doc has a point when they show inactive member's cars on the banner. It would be nice to clean it up and give the new members a chance to show off their rides. At the same time, Jester does have a great standpoint. It's a piece if history from all the nice people that were here.

I mean what could be done is take off the not-so impacting people's rides off the banner cycle and keep the memorable one's on there. I'm sure they do have a good reason why they are no longer here. That's my 2 cents.

I forgot about that....

The garage stuff is one thing - the albums are another....

I know. I know. Why so much?

Well, the garage came first because there were no albums. The albums came with one of the recent upgrades... So, now we have both..

I could set it up so that all album submissions are moderated. That would make it so that I or Xl would have to view the picture before it becomes active..... that'd work but I tremble at what you guys would deliberatley post just so we have to look at it. [smilie=f:


That banner prefix idea is exactly how our banner works now, but the files all have a prefix of "qnuts" Why? I figured it would be unique and it makes it easy to parse it out to make the caption.. <---- :dcf:

We'll see how the album pics look on the page and then go from there.
