Jeep Fc-170

Guess this can count as a mopar. Me and my dad got this jeep years ago now. and are just now getting to work on it. Heres some pics of how it is sitting right now. Its a 1964 FC-170 stock. Current plan is to put the cab on a 97 Ram 1500 frame. The drivetrain will come from a 95 Ram 2500 with the v10 and automatic trans. Heres some pics of the work and donor frame.

FC 170?
Never saw one of those before.
Should be pretty sweet when done.:bravo:

Very cool!

Should be an interesting build to watch too. Keep the updates coming, please.

FC stands for Forward control. I know of a few of those trucks around these parts.

Funny what one notices when your brother is a jeep guy.

yep forward control cab. this one was a duelly. and it was actually used at the willys plant in ohio. had a big ol water tank on it. we got it from the guy who bought it from willys/jeep plant. he used it around his farm. but we changed our minds and are goin to throw it on the 2500 4x4 frame.

Going to be a Deezel or are you sticking with the V10?

(Can't see the pics here at work.:()

:gaga:Man that's SWEEEEEET!!!! Somehow I think this is right up 69.5's alley. Need to call him and get him back on here and have a lookie-see. He is a sucker for anything C.O.E.

Think I saw one of those at the Portland auto show one year.....:hmmm:

*scampers off to look through old Oregon pics.*

well progress has been slow. and we changed our minds on what we want from the truck. no longer goin be used for a tow rig but a cruiser. so its goin on the 97 ram 1500 2wd frame and will most likely be getting the 383/727 thats laying in the garage.

as much as i love a modded rig and hate em restored...knowing it was the truck that watter the plant it was built at..wow..that babys BEGGING for a resto just for history sake......

however the gearhead in me says rock a full 4WD setup in it and make a real jeep out of it..none of this 2wd nonsense..its not a jeep if its not a 4wd

LOVE the old coe jeeps ya dont see em often theres 2 running around here localy 1 white short base with a bed bone stodk..the other is a modded rock crawler sporting 38's

Sorry, but I think that thing is hideous. Just expressing an opinion, and we all know those are like belly buttons--everyone has one--but a Jeep FC needs to be 4WD, and to me preferably with military axles (think duece-and-a-quarter, but single rear) and a strong powerplant. A diesel, methinks.

Too square and too worklike to ever make it as a street machine. The body style just screams "utility".

It's your truck--you do what you want, and have fun with it more than anything--I'm just tossing in my two cents' worth even though I'm never offered more than a penny for my thoughts. :D

hell yeah big duece axles or unimog axles mmmmmm some BIG rockwells ..drools

they do make a cool street rod "if" you have the box for them like that flamed one..but they still look soooooooo much sexyer lifted and 4x4

That's what I thought too until last year, freaky enough to take a picture of.

This was East of Prairie Chicken, WI on my way out to see the old phart.

well guys. sorry no real progress shots. but we have made up our minds on the game plan. atleast for now. We are goin to be using the original jeep frame. Goin to make some mounts so we can use the 383/727 we have laying around. Probably run a divorced transfer case. and i found out that the old ton trucks share the same bolt pattern. but haven't found if the back spacing is the same. but hoping to find a set of 22.5s or 19.5 to roll on. they are the odd 6x7.25 bolt pattern. we are goin to start working on the jeep for real soon. my v10 truck died. motors shot and it just wasn't worth fixing. so goin to be using my 1500 parts truck as my truck till the jeep is done. so need to get cracking on it. so if anyone has some of the large wheels lmk even if just to see if they will work or not
